Start with the Plants

Nothing is more inviting than a garden filled with beautiful plants. Start by thinking about what you like. Have you visited friends and family who have the most visually pleasing gardens? If so, take inspiration from them. Ask for cuttings from your favorite ones or learn what types of plants they have in their garden. Take note of how they layer the textures, shapes, and sizes of the plants, with the larger ones toward the back of the garden beds and the smaller ones in the front to create a living tableau of colour.

Once you have decided on what types of plants you wish to have, go to your local store and pick up the necessary garden supplies to help put your garden in order. Be sure to invest in high-quality gardening implements so you can use them without fail season after season.

Add a Touch of Whimsy

If you have a stump that is still in the ground, you can have it professionally removed for a price, or you can leave it in place and create something more interesting. The options are only confined by your imagination. Some fun ideas include hollowing out the top a little bit and placing a shallow bowl inside for a makeshift birdbath.

Plant an array of flowing grasses and pollinator-loving plants around the new birdbath. Another idea is to level the top of the stump and place a large planter or planter arrangement on top. Additionally, you can place a table top on the tree stump and set chairs around it, or use it as a chair itself.

For more inspiration, get creative and make a little fairy house from an old tree stump.

Incorporate Comfortable Seating

In order to enjoy your garden, you need someplace to sit. A picnic blanket is lovely at times, but not all the time. Instead, look for outdoor furniture at your garden supply store when you pick up your new gardening tools. Opt for timeless pieces you can incorporate easily into your space. Pick up a bench with a built-in covering or select an umbrella instead.

Add some outdoor cushions and throw pillows to create a home-like environment outdoors. Pick colours that complement your interior design scheme or find something completely different to create the feel of a whole new room outside. Be sure to coordinate the cushions and pillows with the umbrella for a cohesive look.

The way your garden looks now does not have to be the way it looks forever. All it takes to transform it is some sweat and effort on your part to create a beautiful space. Start by finding the right tools to plant something amazing. When you are done, relax on your new furniture and take it all in.
