Four Ways To Upgrade Your Home's Exterior

If you’re renovating your home in the new year, you’re likely planning on focusing on interior projects. For example, you may wish to upgrade your bedroom, kitchen, or dining room. However, it's important that you don’t neglect your home’s exterior either - especially as this can go a long way toward making your home feel high-end or improving your curb appeal.

Here are four simple (yet effective) ways to upgrade your home’s exterior!

Upgrade your lawn

One of the easiest ways to transform your home’s exterior for the better is to pay close attention to your garden or lawn. For example, you could install Sapphire Grass, known for its distinctive deep-green hues, to make your garden look more enticing all year round. It's also relatively easy to maintain, which is great news for those who may not be the most skilled gardeners!

In addition to installing new turf, try to add a few plants to your porch or yard. Again, you can opt for low-maintenance options if you don’t have a lot of free time - as they look great without taking up too much of your time.

Add a fresh coat of paint

Adding a fresh coat of paint, whether that be to the door and window frames or the walls of your home, can also improve your home’s exterior. This is because, over time, even the most durable of paint will fade, splinter, and crack, making your home look worse for wear. However, this can easily be remedied by applying a fresh coat of paint.

The majority of homeowners opt for simple, neutral colors when painting their homes, though just because this is the norm does not mean that you have to abide by these rules! Before painting your home the brightest shade you can find, however, be sure to check local regulations and guidelines as there are sometimes rules in place relating to this - though there’s usually nothing wrong with a splash of color. You can also afford to be a little more expressive when painting doors, window frames and fringing than with the walls themselves.

Replace your windows

Replacing your windows can also improve your home’s exterior! However, the benefits of this task are not just aesthetic. For example, a recent study found that the average value of a home can increase by 10% with a new double glazing installation. This makes it a wise investment for property owners who may be considering selling their homes and moving in the coming years.

Furthermore, replacing old windows can also make your home more energy-efficient, which can help you save money on your energy bills.

Update your fencing

It is typically recommended that fences be replaced every 10 years. However, you should still make an effort to maintain them during this time.

Select a fencing style and material that suits your aesthetic preferences, budget, and functional needs. Common fencing materials include wood, vinyl, metal (such as aluminum or wrought iron), composite, and chain-link.

You could also apply a fresh coat of paint and varnish or hang unique planters on your fencing. Thankfully, many of these tasks can be carried out relatively inexpensively if you’re willing to put the work in yourself.
